Supra Oracle Deck by Uusi Design Studio – based on Jungian psychology
The illustrations in the Supra Oracle deck are nothing short of magnificent, hand-inked by the talented Peter Dunham, reminiscent of the intricate style of sixteenth-century European engravings. The deck draws inspiration from the archetypes defined by the renowned philosopher Carl Jung, guiding individuals on a journey towards self-awareness and the discovery of their own unique personality.
One might wonder if familiarity with Jung’s work is a prerequisite to using this oracle. The answer is not necessarily. While having an understanding of Jung’s archetypes and their place in his philosophical framework – you find more info about Jung’s perspective on tarots here – is undoubtedly enriching and intellectually stimulating, it is not a strict requirement. The oracle’s strength lies in its intuitiveness, eloquently speaking to the duality within us, the conscious and the unconscious.
So, is this oracle deck suitable for beginners? Absolutely!
The quality of the paper is top-notch. Comprising 56 cards, each card is a masterpiece of complexity masked in simplicity. A single card is sufficient to prompt profound introspection about oneself and one’s outlook on life. I often find that using complex spreads with this deck is unnecessary. Just one or two cards can serve as a powerful catalyst for an introspective dialogue. This deck reminds us that we are not only what we consciously know of ourselves but also encompasses the unknown facets of our being.
The Starlight Frequencies Oracle by Sacred Scribe Publishing – Graphic Collage
The Starlight Frequencies Oracle has been crafted by the talented Leah Shoman. Utilizing the technique of graphic collage, this deck captivates with its soft and dreamy colors that immediately draw the eye. The use of collage, a technique gaining popularity in contemporary tarot deck creation, offers an appealing aesthetic and the chance to incorporate a multitude of symbols.
Each card in this deck is a masterpiece, the result of the author’s ability to channel higher messages through intuitive power. A feature I particularly admire is the inclusion of each card’s meaning beneath its title. This thoughtful addition enhances accessibility, catering to both those who lean on their intuition and imagery and those who prefer written guidance for interpretation. The deck aims not to hand out answers but to aid in the journey of self-reconnection, tapping into one’s intuition and inner wisdom.
Is this deck suitable for beginners? Absolutely! It’s perfect for those starting their journey with oracle decks. Its intuitive nature eliminates the need for prior specific knowledge, and the core meaning on each card further eases the learning curve.
The card quality is exceptional. Having used the deck extensively, I can attest to its durability – even under the rigor of my aggressive shuffling. The cards have maintained their integrity beautifully. The box too is noteworthy – sturdy yet compact. Although it contains a small booklet providing additional explanations for each card, the deck’s intuitive design often renders the booklet unnecessary.
This deck is a must-have for fans of the collage genre. It offers more than a simple oracle reading experience; it feels like an activation of one’s intuitive power. Each card seems to illuminate a part of ourselves, enhancing our journey of self-discovery and introspection.
Materia prima by Uusi Design Studio – Elegant
Materia Prima is the latest oracle creation from Uusi Studio, the renowned creators of the well-known Supra oracle and Pagan Otherworlds tarot deck. This 84-card deck is an artistic representation of the periodic table of elements, echoing Carl Sagan’s profound insight from his famous work, “Cosmos”. Sagan taught us that we are made of starstuff; the atoms of the universe are our atoms, intertwined and inseparable. This oracle embodies that very essence – the concept of our total existence, interconnected and unified, part of a cosmos that is ever dissolving and reforming.
The illustrations in Materia Prima are exceptionally elegant, employing a minimalist palette of white, black, and gold. The images draw inspiration from neoclassical art. An intriguing aspect of this deck is how the cards, when viewed collectively, form a cohesive whole rather than just individual representations. This design choice beautifully mirrors the oracle’s underlying message of unity and connectedness.
Is Materia Prima suitable for beginners? Absolutely. Being an oracle deck, each card comes with a meaning assigned by its creator. However, purchasing the creator’s book (sold separately) is not essential. The cards are highly expressive, with the movements and dances of the figures lending themselves to intuitive interpretation and reading.
The quality of both the cards and packaging is outstanding. The cards are thick and made from top-quality materials, ensuring durability against wear, bending, or breaking. The same high standard applies to the book, which is printed on excellent quality paper.
Materia Prima is undoubtedly a beautiful deck to own. It transcends being merely a tool for meditative tarot practice and stands as a complete work conveying an important message: we are part of a whole, and the possibilities of life are limitless. This deck is not just an oracle but a reminder of our cosmic connection and the endless potential that lies within us.
Memoir by gli Occhi del Bagatto (Michele Cadelano) – Photographic
Memoir by Michele Cadelano is an intuitive photographic oracle deck, a collection of photos captured in various places and times by Gli Occhi Del Bagatto. This deck comprises 61 cards, each featuring a name and keywords. However, in this case, the words are not the primary focus. Lacking a booklet with explanations, Memoir is aptly termed an “intuitive oracle”, as the author encourages users to define their own interpretations, to find personal meanings in each card, and to explore the messages they convey.
The photographs themselves vary greatly. Some are beautiful and descriptive, offering clear imagery and symbolism. Others are distressing, ill-defined, or abstract, evoking a sense of confusion or ambiguity. This mix mirrors the multifaceted nature of existence, moments of clarity and simplicity interspersed with periods that are difficult and bewildering. Thus, the deck is more than just a collection of images from an individual’s life experience; it’s a reflection of a journey that resonates deeply with the collective human experience.
Is it suitable for beginners? Absolutely, YES! The intuitive nature of the deck makes it accessible to all, regardless of experience. Simply draw a card and let it speak to you in its unique way. No prior knowledge is needed, making it a straightforward and personal experience.
The quality of the cards is impressive. I’ve used them extensively and can vouch for their durability, they remain in excellent condition. The packaging, too, is a highlight. Handmade but of high quality, it adds a personal touch to the deck. Included with the deck are a beautiful, hand-printed canvas shopper and a fabric card holder, both enhancing the overall aesthetic and experience.
Memoir is a truly beautiful oracle deck that I have used multiple times, each session revealing new insights about myself, my perceptions, feelings, and experiences. It’s an intuitive journey that engages not just our visual memories but also those aspects of our inner selves that defy concrete definition. Every interaction with this deck is a unique exploration into the depths of personal intuition and understanding.
The Arcana of Astrology by Claire Goodchild – Astrology inspired
The Arcana of Astrology oracle deck is a unique amalgamation of astrology and artistry, featuring 42 cards. These are divided into 12 zodiac cards, 10 planet cards, 8 moon phase cards, 2 eclipse cards, and 10 asteroid cards. The deck stands out for its simple yet incredibly cool illustrations – the kind you’d proudly display anywhere in your home. Indeed, they are the sort of cards that always look great in photos.
Beyond its use as an oracle, this deck is perfect for meditation and for inclusion on altars. One of the aspects I most admired in this deck is the instruction book. Rather than lengthy explanations for each card, the author has chosen to include only a few keywords. This approach is what I believe an oracle guidebook should embody. The arcana are open to interpretation, starting from the author’s inspirations which are significant yet not overbearing.
Is this deck suitable for beginners? Absolutely, yes. You don’t need to be an astrology expert to use it effectively. You can be guided by the colors or the author’s keywords. It also serves as an excellent tool for those beginning to study astrology and the zodiac.
The quality of the paper used is good, and the size of the cards is ideal. As you might guess, I have already displayed the Saturn card in my living room.
The Arcana of Astrology by Claire Goodchild is a visually appealing tool that blends astrological knowledge with intuitive guidance. Whether you’re a beginner or more experienced in astrology, this deck offers a unique way to connect with celestial energies and find personal insights.
Land Sky oracle by Theresa HutchTheresa Hutch – Yoga inspired
Land Sky oracle is an oracle deck adorned with soft, gentle watercolor illustrations. The use of pastel colors, shading, and neutral backgrounds imbues the deck with an air of elegance and tranquility. This 44-card deck is thoughtfully organized: for each of the Eight Limbs of Yoga, there is a Major Card and five Minor cards.
The Eight Limbs of Yoga originate from the ancient text “Yoga Sutras” by the Vedic sage Patanjali. These limbs provide a framework for finding one’s path to true happiness and fulfillment. This deck is a beautiful reminder that Yoga is more than a physical practice; it’s a journey of mindfulness, self-discovery, and understanding the space we inhabit.
The illustrations are beautiful, poetic, and imbued with a sense of calm and sweetness. They perfectly capture the essence of yoga – its sacredness, its serenity, and its lightness.
Is this deck suitable for beginners? Absolutely! It’s not just for those who practice yoga or are familiar with the discipline. The deck can be used intuitively and even combined with other oracle or tarot decks for a more comprehensive reading.
The quality of the materials is commendable. The cards are durable, and the deck comes in a sturdy package with simple yet appealing graphics. The accompanying booklet is well-crafted, offering clear and detailed explanations for each card.
This oracle deck has a special appeal, particularly due to its illustration style. The soft, calming colors invite meditation and reflection. The creator has skillfully conveyed a sense of love, authenticity, awareness, and empathy through each card. Addressing a subject as profound and often misinterpreted as Yoga is not easy. This oracle deck respects and educates about a sacred discipline that is frequently treated as a mere trend. It takes us on a journey, teaching us to respect and learn about traditions and cultures, often distant from our own, with delicacy and humility.
Inner Compass by Neel Van Lierop – Minimal, Abstract
Inner Compass oracle deck is a mesmerizing blend of minimal abstract illustrations that boast a contemporary aesthetic, yet also evoke the signs and symbols of prehistoric paintings. One of the most captivating aspects of this oracle is the written words or phrases accompanying each card. These simple yet profound words open up a myriad of interpretive possibilities. This deck stands out for its emphasis on the power of words over images, a unique approach compared to traditional oracles or tarot decks where visuals typically dominate.
Is this deck ideal for beginners? Absolutely, yes! Moreover, it’s highly recommended even for those who have never owned a deck before. No previous knowledge is required; all that’s needed is an open mind and a willingness to connect with the messages conveyed by the cards.
The deck is accompanied by the creator’s book and comes in a beautifully designed package box, perfect for storing the deck. The creator’s book is intriguing; while each card has its explanation, I encourage users to embrace their own interpretations.
The paper quality is excellent, and the cards are quite large. Admittedly, they are a bit challenging to shuffle, especially for those who prefer “taller than wide” card sizes, but this is purely a matter of personal preference.
I particularly recommend this deck to those who “create with words, with language”. It’s a treasure for poets, writers, avid readers, and anyone who finds resonance in the written word.
This oracle deck is not just a divination tool; it’s an invitation to explore the depths of language and meaning. It bridges the gap between the mystical and the literary, and it is a true celebration of the profound impact words can have on our interpretation of the world and ourselves.
The Cosmos Oracle by Jea Parrinella – Digital Graphics
The Cosmos Oracle deck, designed by Jea Parrinella, is a collection of 74 cards featuring minimalist black and white digital graphics. This deck is a profound embodiment of the concept of entanglement and the interconnectedness of all things. It doesn’t follow a single narrative thread but rather merges disciplines like art, design, astronomy, metaphysics, psychology, and spirituality. This fusion creates an oracle that serves as a gateway to accessing one’s intuition. The author, Jea Parrinella, advocates for intuitive use and advises against getting bogged down by rigid rules or predefined interpretations.
Accompanying the deck is a unique addition: a universe grid and activation portal cloth, which adds a ritualistic element to using the cards. When a card is placed on this cloth, it’s as if it’s being activated within a quantum field space, enhancing the user’s connection to the card’s energy. This feature is less about literal magic and more about embracing the ritualistic aspect of the reading, focusing energies in a meaningful direction.
Is this deck suitable for beginners? Absolutely, YES! It’s an intuitive oracle, requiring no previous knowledge or experience. The only prerequisite is a willingness to be present in the moment and engage with the deck.
The packaging of the Cosmic Oracle deck is a luxury bundle in itself. It includes a sturdy box and a detailed, color-illustrated booklet with comprehensive descriptions of each card, presented in hardcover format. The cards themselves are aesthetically pleasing, featuring an oleographic finish, and are made from durable, 100% recyclable, eco-friendly materials printed with soy inks.
The Cosmic Oracle deck is a unique experience, drawing its essence from the cosmos and the universe, then channeling it to us, mere specks in the vastness of space. It serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of everything, the invisible threads that bind us all. This deck invites users to step away from an ego-centric view of existence and embrace a purer, more present-focused perspective. It’s a tool for personal and spiritual reflection, connecting us to the larger universe and our place within it.
