The Sun
Sun Symbol: ☉
The symbol of the Sun, a circle with a dot at its center, is one of the most ancient and universal signs in history. The circle represents wholeness, unity, and therefore the very idea of perfection. In ancient cultures, it was also the emblem of the sky and of life’s eternal cycles. The central dot is the vital core, the seed, the point from which energy arises, radiates, and nourishes. It is also the symbol of the Self, the innermost center of being.
In Astrology, the Sun’s symbol stands for the “I,” the ideal of the self, and more broadly, the essence of being. Not by chance, like the Sun itself, it is the center around which everything else revolves, both in the sky with the other planets, and in the solar system as a whole.
